Apologies for the lack of posts over the past 8 months completely forget sometimes I Have this blog, that and the fact i have been out and about filming the Real Railway does not help!

NEWS: Well, the biggest news item in the world of Rail Works at the moment is the imminent Release of Railworks 3: Train Simulator 2012 and I have to say from the pictures Railsimulator.com are teasing us with, they have been working hard on graphics side of things. (Pictures can be found on their Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/railsimulator)

Active headlights - they now have beams and you can see where you are driving in the dark (hopefully this will only be applied to high intensity headlight stock) as most BR stock only had lights as a marker to warn people they where there.

Rain Droplets - Rain now falls on the window, and using the wipers will clear it off, and the rain will continue to build up if you turn them off.

Brand new game engine - This should allow Railsimulator.com to continually add new cool features, the old engine that was built during the KUJU development of Railsimulator, has caused a lot of problems and has been the reason why the above features have not been implemented until now!

New Year, New look & New Name

Beings as it is is a New Year i thought I'd be a very good and considerate Blogger and re-design the blog, i did it into the theme i love the most.... Network SouthEast, granted most of the background is black but Text & Links are in NSE colours.

Also i have changes the name to another past Time that my heart still belongs too, Slam Door EMU's And hence from being biased to all classes except the 423 i went for a more universal name that covers all Slam door trains.

This is the same with forums i Frequant (well there may be the odd forum where I am still Slammer423) but I will be known as SlamdoorTrains.

I'll be back soon with more How to Videos, Also news of a UK route in production from Railsimulator.com that is right up my street!

Level Crossing Tutorial

Well as i promised that i will start using this blog a bit more, and try and keep it as helpful as possible and to try and put some positive to help take out a lot of the negatives about RW people seem to be having (but lets not go there, For me Railworks Works as it should, we have a dedicated support team, and we have some fantastic stuff in the pipeline from freeware developers & Payware developers.

So anyway, i had a crazy idea at about midnight on the 30th October to do a video tutorial using my voice to explain, so apologies if it scares you, but if you where wondering how to lay the new animated level crossing in RailWorks, then look no further. (well actually yes, just below this writing in fact) lol.

Well, I must firstly slap my hand for the lack of posts recently, however, I am going to do my utmost to post more and post useful info or videos.

So I am going to start with RailWorks 2: Train Simulator, (from now on will be referred to as RW2:TS), this was released on Monday Evening as a free update to current RW users, and a Re-branded version of the original RailWorks (including Mondays update) to the general public.

Boxed versions will be in shops (by late October)*

RW2:TS introduced some improvements to the general user interface As shown in the pictures below. Also (as shown below) a nice fresh look to the editor fly out menus (scenario & Route editor mode only).

Not only that but Paul Jackson (CEO) RailSimulator.com Said he wanted to make the game appeal and usable to those who may find it daunting learning keyboard keys to operate the train, In an interview with James Woodcock (video below)

also included is the long awaited animated Level Crossing's (very simple to lay and get working) And improvements to the scenario editor.

Oovee (Zane Saxton) Has cleared up the confusion regarding tonight's Release of the New Measurement Train (with Camera).

Derek (RSDerek) also confirmed that RSc Only released the files that where core to the NMT.

Zane has said he will push everything else that is required to make the train usable on UKTS during Wednesday Morning (24th February 2009).

Well it was certainly worth the extra few days wait for the latest RailWorks update (104.2b), With a brand new scenario interface and a timetable view scenario writing will be much more easy to get your head round with the latest new tools.

In addition numerous bug fixes one of which is the headlight bug have been rectified. just a word of warning from experience here: If you are using a re-skin of the class 158 (that was not part of the pack) the update will not have touched these. I will write a guide on what to do when i have actually fixed this myself.

this will be welcomed to those of us who drive outside the cab: The addition of 2 new warning icons "Wheel slip & AWS warning:

there have been many other improvements made and would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved with making the update.

I am in a serious mood at the moment I want to simply add text to the top right of the video with "RWTS TV" written there and do you think i am able to do this with ease... OH NO!

Firstly the gratest video tool we had was Windows Movie maker (XP / Vista Versions) Now Windows 7 comes along (and the operating system is fantastic)but no longer comes bundled with movie maker.

Since Microsoft invented thier "Live" services they incorperated movies maker into that and really dumbed it down for use from the clueless amatures.

Ok fair enough but all the tools we had are gone!

So i am resulting in playing with demo versions of pro software for video creation and even though the output from Windows live movie maker is in HD as soon as it hits Coral it degrades to that of a mobile phone video, Whats the deal???

if you know of easy to use software that will simply let me add what i want to the video AND maintain the Qaulity i'd be most gratefull!

AI Trains...... GRRRR

Okie dokie, so i said i'd chip in with the advent content as no one had sent anything to us for December 4th i managed to write a very basic and quick sceanrio so i could make a part 2 a bit more than just a drive to point A to point B.

unfortuinately the packager only packagede up the current save file??? i 100% know i ticked all the boxes inside the sceanrio in package manager to pack it all.. but never mind.

I found a major flaw in it when i conmtinued playing it. so i changed some AI about changes some times and added stop at instructions to keep them on the right path.

Now i have a problem where the AI stock i altered does not move, and one of them just vansishes off the map when i got near it....

Wonder if i can fix the scenario today? update when i have!

Sorry there have been no posts from me here for a bit, been busy fighting with Abbey to get them to send my remaining bank balance to my new bank... honestly, they are not at all helpful!.

secondly myself and the rest of the team have been busy behind the scenes of RW-Trainsim to think up and get the forum ready for Christmas, and late Saturday evening we started our Festive activities, By launching our Christmas look.

Okay, back to the stuff you are here for... RailWorks!.

I was working on a "summer tour of Cresston Scenario, Well beings its been so long and i have been working on it adding more AI, but the Sim crashed on me during editing and lost the updates. That's not a bad thing though as one of the AI services where causing the player train to fail and i have No idea what one it was. (i did take several possible ones off the drivers list but failed to clear up the failed status).

However i am now re-installing RailWorks fresh as it seemed to take a life time to load up form pressing launch on the settings page to loading up the routes.

Once this is completed (and hopefully cured crashing ETC) Then i am going to Write a more fitting scenario to the recent weather we have had, "A Stormy Shift" for cresston, and hopefully a bit of AI about so it does not look so plain.

Looks like every ones really taken to Darren's hard work with Newcastle - York Modern and I myself will be purchasing a copy just as soon as i can.

Also on my "to buy list" is the new Class 37 Pack, also now out on steam, these are a fantastic addition and opens up the shed doors for a new and accurate batch of re-skins.

Tornado: oh yes, the one steam engine (apart from Mallard & Flying Scotsman) I like, and look forward to seeing the A1 out for everyone to enjoy AND best of all, a small donation from Each sale will go to the A1 locomotive trust.

Pendolino: no further news into when this fantastic EMU will hit the Steam Store? but another must have will be the 390.

Well with me now settled and getting used to windows 7 i am now starting to get back to Railworks and the sceanario i had planned for over a month ago.

Spent this evening adding a few AI services added a sceanrio siding marker too , all in all i think its going to be a good sceanrio, mind i have to do a bit of explaining in the read me when it comes to cab chang time! Not as easy as you tthink it is set up! none the less i think i should have it compleated later today (Monday).

Unfortuantely i am still not much closer to getting to the exit of this very long dark tunnel i have been stuck in the past couple of months computer wise.

Chris (Basherz) kindly donated an old PC that eventually will be able to run RW, however i am having some troubles with constant Blue Screen Error reboots. It's not windows as i have installed it fresh so this is not good news.

I am hoping to with money i recive for Birthday and christmas to get myself a brand new machine (if i can blag a very big bargain).

So unfortuantely at the moment i am still stuck on administrating duties only, pity as there is so much stuff out for RW now.

Very fustrating at the moment.

As i posted just under a week ago i was hopeful a new Power supply unit for my main computer would solve my mystery break down. Well, £25 lighter and almost a week later my Power supply unit arrives, Sadly it is NOT the problem and it is likely to be a burnt out mother Board.

And that is terrible news for me, I no longer have a computer to run rail works on, and all in development stuff I had planned is now permanently suspended.

I am gutted as i just spent almost £50 on a brand new graphics card to enable me to play rail works at full capacity, Sadly everything i was so looking forward to for Rail works i can't have.

So until i have enough money to get myself a computer that can handle Rail works
this blog is having to close down.

I will however keep this blog online and happy for you to keep subscribed, and one day in the future i will be able to pick this up where i left off.

I regret to inform you all that the sceanrio i mentioned belkow is on the back burner.

Unfortunately my main computer decided to give up the ghost this evening and no longer works, i am using my back up computer however this is nowhere near compatable with RailWorks unfortuantely. (32mb of ram is very pain staking lol).

I will however continue with it as soon as it is possible, At the moment it looks like it may be as long as next year. (depending on whats exactly wrong with the computer).

Sceanrio Early testing complete...

I have been spending today making my First Scenario for Darandios beautifull route Cresston V2.

This will use as the player train Dan's fantastic class 37 in DB red. David Hossacks stunning Wrexham & Shropshire & Virgin Re-furbished mk3's

All in all the scenario is about an hour and 45 minutes long (roughly) and takes advantage of the beautiful scenery and landscape in Cresston. you'll take 3 different lines, "Branch, Main & heritage.

AI traffic will be light as it is based on a Sunday afternoon.

I'll let you know when its ready and what will be required :) I'll try and keep payware to minimal or none at all, but of course if i do then as long as it can match whats replaced then Mike Simpsons RW tools can swap consists without having to completely re-wright the scenario for that consist.

Tonight Darren (Darandio) has released V2 of his fictional route Cresston.

The original low level route of 11.8 miles is still included with the following stations and industry:-

* Oakbridge Low Level

The high level electrified main line route is around 40 miles long incorporating the regional loop and includes the following stations and industry:-

* Bell Mill University

Finally, the heritage line that diverges from Lanyeard is 15.8 miles long and includes the following stations:-

* Hatterby Junction (Heritage services/Railtours reverse or turn around here to continue to the coast)
* Thwaite
* Breskerr

That brings the sum total of the route to around 68 miles with many passenger and freight options available. The route can be used in independently in the three different sections or scenarios can be made to bring all three together.

Out with the old in with the new.. Yes, i know its not the new year, but RWTS has been working hard to improve the services for the members.

Especially when it comes to downloads, the old system was, well, Complicated, members had to pass on downloads to us and wait for us to upload them add a picture ETC.

As you can see it was all reliant on a post and a lot of messing around in the post to put it online.. so anyway that was a system i started up back in the days of when RailSimulator fan / help / download sites started to appear on the web for the UK when i launched "The Train Sim" and that system was only to be temporary.. nearly two years old and used by other websites (proves it was a popular system) we decided it was time to give the members control of their own content.

Introducing the brand new downloads service on RW-Trainsim.

So whats so new about this system i here you ask?

Well.. For a start you could never post a comment to downloads as there where multiple items in one post.

so in this system..

[*] Upload your own item write a description with a rich text editor, add a YouTube video of it in action, or a static image with your details on it using third party sites such as Photo bucket.

[*] Others can rate your item from 1 to 5 stars

[*] Other members can leave a Comment on your download

[*] You have complete control of your downloads* and can edit the description at any time.

[*] upload files up to 100MB in size and it is hosted by us!*2

[*] Once you have uploaded 5 safe items, you can apply for content developer rank which will give you the ability to upload your file without it being held in a approval Que.

[*] Tag your download for easy finding by other members when they use the "search Feature".

There's more I could find but I won't. I'll let you discover that for yourself.

We'd love for anyone who was put off form hosting content with us because of the downloads system to pop back and give this new system a try.

I decided it was time to upgrade my Graphics card to somthingthat could handle RailWorks a litle better, After fighting with it to get it installed, I now can't play railworks.

Everytime i load a route, I select a consist and it Crashes to desktop with the error

Not only that but i have to run it in Winodwed mode otherwise RailWorks locks up my screen and i cant escape to close the program (Despite several frantic CTRL, ALT & DEL attempts.

Please RS.com sort out ths procerror buisness for good! you have the power!

Today I have had drawn to my attention that one of the best sources of help and tutorials for RailWorks / RailSimulator RSadams (LucaZone's) gauge irregularities blog no longer exists.

I do not know the reasons behind Adam's blog disappearing however i have a pretty good idea it could well be to do with drama queens and bitch fests over on a well known community forum.

probably over something stupid that Adam mentioned on his blog.

All i will say is that Adam, You've let them win bud, I hope you don't let them get the better of you and you come back with force soon. Your blog was a fantastic source of information.

I have been meaning to post about this for sometime but never got round to it. However i am pleased to be able to find time (and be bright eyed and bushy tailed at this time of the morning too!) to post some screenshots and a video of the work in progress slammer Electric multiple units the class 307 & 308 Electric Multiple Units (EMU for short).

although wikipedia seems to offer little to no decent information on these units, i have found a tiny snippet of information on them.

History:
The British Rail Class 307 electric multiple units were built by BR at Eastleigh Works from 1954-1956. They were initially classified as AM7 before the introduction of TOPS.

The British Rail (BR) Class 308 alternating current (AC) electric multiple units (EMU) were built by BR at York, in three batches, from 1961–62. They were initially classified as AM8 units before the introduction of TOPS.

Overmars from our community forums (RWTS) & also no stranger on UKTS has been posting some juicy work in progress shots of a project he has asked Digital Traction?* to convert into RailWorks.

I am very excited as I was growing up just as the last of the Mark 1 stock was completing their final years of service (the 423's) and sadly now only 2 Mark 1 units (Both 421's) still run on main line duty's (until SWT pull them out of service (sometime in 2010 / 2011) on the Lymington to Brockenhurst Line.

anyway Here are the screenshots of whats been done so far (most work is being done with the 308 at the moment) as you can see in the video and screenshots there is a 307 also waiting to hit Railworks too!

A Personal Please to content developers

This is a personal plea however i am sure this will be echoed by the majority of community members.

I have downloaded the fantastic Wales & Borders V3 BETA, luckily a member of RWTS community passed it onto me, however i am still unable to play it because of the "extra" dependants needed.

Now this is NOT a bitch at the route creator, Ghostcav has done a supurb job and is doing an very impressive update currently.

But this is a plea to the creators of "independent items" Now we have the wonderful system that is RailWorks package manager, where you can choose to protect or unprotect your work. PLEASE choose unprotected and write in the accompanying read me that it may be packaged up with any route or scenario with your Terms of use.

This will then allow members who use your fantastic items to simply pack them up in their RWP when done, and then write out the "thank yous" in the read me for that package.

That or please send your items to independent sites like RW-Trainsim, we are always happy to accept your items for RailWorks, we have no ques, no restrictions we just give registered members direct access to your content.

This rather annoys me as when you are strapped for cash it really dose not help when you have to purchase a membership to UKTS to download everything you need straight away rather than having to spend hours upon hours waiting in the UKTS Downloads que.

I know, i here you say "Well, 1 months premium is only £3" yes, ok, but to be honest i don't want to buy a ukts subscription for a month and have downloaded everything straight away and not use it again (waist of money).

you produced it for free, so why should i have to pay for your freeware?

So basically, Content developers (i'm talking more in the way of scenery builders ETC) please either allow your work to be packaged up with a route, or allow us to host your items on other free websites.

Terribly sorry for the way this post is worded, i am a little tired when writing this but i do know what i am talking on about.

RSC pushed a new update to users which fixes / adds functionality.

:- Added jumping to a location via ctrl+clicking in the 2D Map (Edit Mode Only)
:- Added steam chuffing on AI locomotives and double headed trains
:- Added LUA scripts allowed on all wagons and tenders
:- Added waypoint at speed to be used as the Final Destination of a Scenario
:- Added locomotive bell to keymapping in all control modes (B key)
:- Added bell sounds to dressed level crossings on Barstow - San Bernadino
:- Added Electrification Display to Track Property display cycle
:- Added engines being off when no driver icon is placed on them (turns off smoke emittion and removes drivers from cab)
:- Fixed the preview function in the Asset Editor for Windows Vista users
:- Fixed road traffic not being able to cross ribbon joints
:- Fixed turning Bubble Labels on/off in Edit Mode
:- Fixed the loss of the zoom function in the 2D Map when authoring scenario instructions
:- Fixed a signal at Maidenhead on the Oxfo-Padd route that was sticking at red
:- Fixed horn staying on if a save was done at the same time
:- Removed some wiggly fence placement along Oxfo-Padd route

NewFront end for RailWorks

After i was told by steam "RailWorks had finished downloading and installed" I have noticed RW have given the front end (News Page) of the RailWorks settings program a fresh new look.

apart form the much better design (much better laid out) But it shows us a glimpse of not 1 oh no, but 2 bran new steam locomotives planned for release soon by RailWorks Dev Team!

The Offcial "RailWorks" Steam Group have scheduled a Downloadable Content Item release for today.

The Stanier Jubilee steam locomotive, famously named in 1935 to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of King George V, was one of the first fully fledged standardised locomotive fleets for LMS designed by William Stanier. Becoming the main stay of passenger traffic operating out of London Euston and surviving the war (barely) the Jubilees were granted one last reprive by appearing in BR Green before their final curtain call. Bought back to life in RailWorks, this famous Class can once again ride the rails.

Looks like another fantastic release to come form the guys at RSC and i will post screenshots as soon as they become available form proud owners of the new Locomotive :-)

Well Sean, Its certainly something that does not happen overnight.

When i started The Train Sim / Zone Reloaded I set up the forum first made sure i had minimal sections to start with, mainly the important sections like help, screenshots & Downloads.

Then i wrote out a few posts mainly a welcome post welcoming everyone and then forum rules. (make sure these are st up as cleanly and as politely as possible. The last thing someone will want is to read six paragraphs about 1 rule.

Observation, When i thought the site was ready, i observed the RailSimulator.com forums, to see who was knowledgeable. Basherz was the most knowledgeable person who was not on the Developer team. He kindly offered me help with a problem i had with my PC got me up and running with RailSimulator. once we knew each other a bit better i invited him to become an admin on the forum to offer help.

Now your team: you should make sure you can trust them to be helpful and step into problems and brake up fights, you need a stable team, so if two arch enemy's are on your team that's bound to explode in public sections, but importantly members can sense if there is tension between members of staff, and usually play on it to provoke a fight.

But also you need to make sure you don't have a member of the team who will "upset the applecart" when something happens that they do not like, For example you know what happened with a certain member of my site caused so much grief i ended up shutting up shop.

once i had cooled down i came to RSTS as a member, and worked my way up the ranks.

So first off, don't add Staff willy nilly so that staff out number members, that is a big PUT OFF and some may see it as power hungry and will not stay. Start of with just yourself advertise the site in a way that is constructive and obeys the rules of each individual place.

Whilst adding mates in your forum as staff may be good, then be very careful, sometimes the two do not mix. see if they join, watch their progress and how the treat others as a member, if they boss people around as a member its a clear sign they'll abuse their role of power.

Your behaviour on other sites also contributes to weather or not people think its a cool idea to try your forum, If you post gunk all the time and have hardly anything constructive posted they will pick up on that and think your site will be the same. The same goes for other staff members, you must remember to compose yourself in a polite and friendly manor and not heat any debates that may be on the verge of moderator action.

Don't bad mouth other sites, unless you have the proof to back up why the site is bad, then leave the subject in private.

Airing "dirty washing" in public is a no no, so again keep any disputes in private, between you and the person involved.

Content - now content is a touchy subject sometimes, and using the same system as another site may seem good, but ideally write it out in your own style, or it will look like you just couldn't be bothered to put the effort into the site.

work with content developers closely and give them a little more freedom, for example RWTS now gives out those developers with 5+ downloads access to a special area where they can ask for managers to put work up directly without it being checked first. Ideally we'd love to give our trusted developers the ability to add their content themselves, however, this can be risky and because of the Way our system works, means we can not.

Encourage the first timers and guide them, the more content developers you have the better, Also if you don't have an answer don't be touchy about sending them to somewhere that can, after all we all want to share what each other have that you don't. that's the meaning of Community, we all work as 1 big family to help those in need.

Don't be afraid to say thank you or ask members to help, at the end of the day a true member will help to the maximum of their ability to help you but remember RESPECT and thank them.

build up a reputation, and then build on what suggestions are made. so a suggestions thread is a good idea too.

Also consult decisions as a team, that's the whole point they are there, and if you need advice you can consult your team...

So key points:

:- Minimal Sections to start with (if possible try and make sections rank accessible).
:- Respect your team members and members.
:- Don't have to many staff to start off with, too many staff = people running away.
:- Work with other websites we are not at war, so why treat it as if it was a top secrete?
:- Behave as you would expect your members to behave on your site.
:- post constructive posts on your forum as well as other forums, the more you contribute the more you learn and knowledge is a good thing to have as a site owner.
:- Design - if the site is hard to read by you, what about members who have disabilities? make it easy to read and easy to find important items.
:- As much as possible get your members involved :- ask thier opinion if you plan to change somthing, see if they agree or not.
:- never force a member of another site to join yours, you'll come across as pushy and no one likes to be forced to join a website because a member of the team on that site gets on their nerves.

I think that will do Sean, if you follow what is said in this post you will start to hopefully see improvements, but remember don't give up, one day it will work!.

RWTS had to quickly disable the public access this afternoon after a Guest "Spam Attack" Luckily it was contained withing 1 section (thank goodness the whole forum was not visible to guests) But after a bit of work it was cleaned up.

Just to make clear this was nothing other than a spam attack from probably a program known as a spam bot. NO personal Details of ANY of our members would have been harvested, as all registered members are protected against Guests seeing your details.

The exploit was opened when we enabled guests the ability to post in the sections they can see, we had in mind that if any of our regular members ran into trouble and couldn't get in, they could post as a guest and ask for help. This however has now been revoked, closing the Exploit and will stop anything like this happening where we can't trace the source.

This, However dose not mean we are "Invincible, we are by no means safe, but we have security in place such as Captcha and a spam bot filter installed, but sometimes one may slip the net.

So, be vigilant on any forum you go to, sometimes it slips through the net of the staff of each forum and they need to be alerted asap.

ALL forums have a very clever feature that when used automatically sends a email to Moderators / Administrators of the forum with a link to the reported post, (normally used when abuse breaks out) but it should be used if you think a post is suspicious, especially if the person who posted it is not a regular poster.

But you should never really click any link you do not know, even if it is posted by someone who is trusted.

We thank all of our members on RWTS for the vigilance you have and continue reporting anything you feel is out of the ordinary.

(myself i am a mallard fan) have released the class 8F steam locomotive, and form the screenshots i have seen another high quality product and shows RW is open to much higher quality and future features. Whislt XP isntalls to my second hand machine I am going to take this opotunity to give you all an update to whats happened in the world of RS (Now re-named RW) Trainsim.

Q: New Name? Why?

A: Railworks is so much better than RailSimulator and we decided as a team that we will discontinue adding downloads for RailSimulator, so we have taken down all (but a few) Railsimulator downloads form the downloads section of the forums so we love Railworks so much we decided to .

Q: what about my content?

A: If you have contributed with us, don't worry if you have a copy of RailWorks installed simply port your content over (RPK from RS or Drag the folder form RS to RW) install to your RailWorks and re-pack the item up as RWP (RailWorks Package), re-submit it and we'll happiuy continue to host your work past, present and future.

Q: It's not quite fair, I don't have railworks?

A: Unfortunately there is nothing we can do, other websites such as UKTrainsim will still offer RS downloads as long as the contributers release them for that system. RW-Trainsim wants to focus on the future and proove RailWorks (though still a little buggy) but what do you expect form a new program? is the future of Rail Simming.

Q: New name, New Web Address?

A: NO! The site owner has another 16 months to run on the current address, untill that time is up and it comes to re-newal, we will not be changing our web address. however once the 16 months are up the team will discuss if to re-new or buy a new name.

Good afternoon followers & Guests reading this blog post, and my sincere apologies for he lack of posts recently.

Mainly because i have been enjoying Rilworks, (never had as much fun in RailSimulator), anyway, just a bit of a grumble to get of my chest.

Okay so as you know i am not the most respected or followed person in the Rail Simulation community (no big deal) but what i do ask for is RESPECT, you know it wouldn't go a miss...

Now a certain website that will remain nameless, has decided the best option is to ban me because i told them straight what i think about their constant bashing towards RailWorks and the guys at RSC (Railsimulator.com).

Twice i posted and both times my posts where removed by site owner, so i sent him a nice pm telling him straight what i think about the continued abuse they are giving RailWorks and to stop comparing it against RailSimulator. but he choose not to take my advice and for the pleasure Kicked me off the site. (dose not bother me, one less site to read and release future content to.)

Now I am going to say this: those of you who are still on the "RailWorks is a con Bandwagon" get off your hind horse and pipe down and continue with MSTS or Trainz or whatever you are "Committed too". But let me ask you this: how can you judge railworks if A: you don't have a copy (and some of you are swearing blind you'll never purchase a copy).

And some of you have a valid reason. However, those who seem to judge it because of its striking similarity to RailSimulator... HELLO!!!! is anyone home? RailWorks IS RailSimulator Mark2, but with a whole lot more potential than RS could have ever offered be it for design or programming reasons...

Which the Guys at RSC thought is not fair on current and future customers / players. So they didn't sit on their arse and say sorry we can't do that, NO they did something to benefit every one present and future.

Railworks has already had several updates and have very kindly released the foliage pack free of charge into the sim for those who can't afford to purchase it and to save the hassle of individual users porting over the legacy installer. this now enables a whole new set of assets that where never available before to many users, and also enabled users who avoided downloading a route because the foliage pack was required can happily download these routes now, so for a route builder its now opened up the route to a whole new audience.

The improvements to the sim are not that striking at first but route builders have certainly noticed a heck of an improvement to the built in tools.

In short Don't keep on knocking Railworks, if you don't like it, Fine go back to whatever you prefer but I'm convinced (once all the small glitches have been ironed out) once you go RailWorks you'll never go back.

Sorry, There will be a delay in the release of the sceanrio and Tail Lamp releases as i have not yet finished testing the sceanrio. got caught up in other matters. I will look at this during the corse of today (Thursday) but for now, my bed is calling.

Firstly I am Gratefull to Chris (Basherz) For the location settings for the tail light to sit on the back of the MK1's So this has enabled me to put a pack together for Railworks of the Defualt Mk1's woith the newley attached Tail Light.

The long awaited Clas 60 locomtive pack from Just Trains is here!

The Class 60, introduced between 1989 and 1993, is the last mainline diesel locomotive built in the UK, and 100 units were produced. Class 60s are still giving sterling service, providing raw horsepower on services where more modern locomotives struggle, and the Class 60 is now viewed as something of a classic.

These locomotives can be used to haul heavy freight in any RailWorks or Rail Simulator route, and this add-on includes a set of scenarios for you to drive on some of the default RailWorks and Rail Simulator routes.

Class 60 is supplied in 10 authentic liveries and is modelled with exacting attention to detail, all the way down to small features such as grills and vents. The realistic cab features accurately modelled and correctly placed controls, and you can even use the windscreen wipers and move the individual window sunblinds up and down to aid visibility when the sun is low in the sky.

The distinctive sounds of the Class 60 were recorded from the real locomotive and include the unique engine start-up sounds and horn.

It has come to my attention lately that the lack of manors within the Rail simulation community is lacking.

bossing and shouting at people will likely result in PEOPLE IGNORING YOUR POST, Its not nice for staff either when you back chat them or make them out to be stupid because they asked a question you can't be bothered to look into.

No manners? then a forum is not the place for you.

Staff and contributors (other members) help because they love rail simulation. Staff do not get paid for this either so abusing staff is effectively you writing your own grave stone.

Please and thank you goes a long way in a community and in real life too.

I am tired of seeing the constant Faults being picked with Rail Works because of Steams Involvement. STEAM is a perfect way of delivering product updates securely to everyone at the same time! and quickly too and more frequently.

That's all the complaints are about is about the fact you "HAVE" to be connected to the net... Balderdash, you only ever have to Activate the product via the Internet ONCE, after that you can set your Steam app to offline mode.

Fair enough some of you may not be able to have a Internet connection or a broadband connection but Whats a few pence to connect to the Internet the old way (Dial up 56K?) to Register the Sim initially and then perhaps once a month to check for updates?

Rail Works Is the future and I fully Support decisions form the guys at Railsimulator.com Steam Doesn't restrict what you can do, it may be a bit of a pain in the arse having to "re-instate sound packs of modifications made to default files, but there are ways around it.

Sorry but I'm tired of Rail works is Bad because you have to have a Internet connection, Get with the times, or stay with the old school like MSTS.

Well, its been a a while since i last updated this blog mainly having fun in RailWorks and its given me a Spirt of Creativity for my Bad Wolf Test project... (pictures soon).

Although there where teething problems on Friday which meant Railworks was not Released until late afternoon, and it took a little over 7 hours to download so I did not get a chance to really look at the simulator Friday. However i spent the day yesterday (Saturday) in RailWorks.

After looking briefly at the routes that where new (Not the European one yet - still to explore it) but the UK fictional route, Has a great potential to be extended with someone with good imagination and experience with building routes.

But i have to say RailSimulator Team have created a Beast that's yet to learn its full potential, and i am certainly looking forward to that.

The sim has some bugs that are tolorable no major bugs (for me anyway) and Will likely be addressed in the coming weeks as more problems occur for users.

I have to say my favorite locomotive has to be the 37 Green (pictured above) Rail works allows the user to totally customise the locomotive (not just the 37 green but any of the locos) But the 37 has head code boxes and (boys will be boys i am sure we have all thought up a lot of 4 letter swear words or put our name on front or even your fave website.

Derek is modeling more head coded versions which is great because a BR blue head code would look really nice.

First impressions is good, the weather patterns are so much better and the sky texture on a clear day is photo realistic.

With The ability to be able to transfer items form RS1 to RS2RW makes it a doddle to pick up in Railworks where you left off in RailSimulator.

My rating for Railworks is 9/10 and the only thing stopping it being a 10 for me at the moment is the small bugs but i persevere with them as it dose not effect game play once the minor teething problems are fixed (i mean lets be fair, what program doesn't have teething problems on release?).

One thing that springs to mind with Railworks is that its "home Grown Feeling to it" Not because the sim was developed in the neighbouring city to me but the sim looks and feels like a group of guys who love rail simming us much as we do, and not some people sat in an office doing it because its their job.

So for this i thank Derek, Adam, Paul & the rest of the guys involved with RailWorks. Keep up the good work and long may RailWorlks Reign!.

Congratulations to Chelsea! Well deserved Win of the FA Cup Proud to be a fan.

Moving the subject back to "rail simming" Here are the shots of the latest project to come out my paint depot...

Dart Rail / Padster Rail.

Based on the Padster Rail HST set from JWR, i have changed the colour scheme to royal (or chelsea) HAHA! Blue and used the Padster Southisle logo instead of the defualt Padster red logo and added my Virtual rail company's name & logo.

I don't know if adding my last two 158 re-skins onto my blog direct where a sucess or not but i'll also put this for download here and across the rail simulator communitys.

Why leave Padster rail on? well, The man himself "Padster" put a propersistion to Dart rail over at RS-Trainsim proposing Dart & padster should join forces.

Sadly with Hill Valley V3 permantly scrapped i decided to put the test livery into Southisle blue, wich actualy suits the old girl.

Included are Fisrt Class, Buffet (resteruant) & Second class MK3 coches.
